Lorry taking horses to an adventure

Activities:

Homeschool.

We completed the school year by the middle of November even though we took two Tuesdays off to ride.    So wonderful to be able to be flexible like that.

Paula and Murray took to selling Bananas, each week, when they were in Harare for sports.   A great exercise to see how to sell something and learn to do a simple profit and loss account.  Murray got to count all the cash.

Homeschool Art.

Christmas decorations were put up in the house and around the garden.   Always a fun time of the year.

Homeschool Sport.

Played a round of 9 holes of golf to end the year of golf lessons.

Tennis practice continues each week as the kids prepare for their end of year tournaments.  Time is spent on their service and game plan.

Horses.

We had to first get our dressage ring up so that we could practice for the first horse show we attended in November.   We found poles and old paint tins in the junk heap and used those for our ring.

The first horse show was a huge success.  The ponies needed to be washed and cleaned up for the show.

Paula Joy won first place in show jumping and dressage.   She jumped the highest she has ever jumped which was a great achievement.

Murray won first and second places in show jumping and he also jumped higher than he had before.  Having to remember his jumping course is a great way to build his confidence.

The Utility Pony Class was great fun.  The children had to wear a Christmas suit and put tinsel around their ponies.   Then they had to carry a flag from A to B followed by walking through tires and finishing up with dipping their faces into water and then flour to retrieve a marshmallow.

Adventures:

Farm Life.

Both  Paula and Murray have learnt to drive the old pickup.    They drive to and from the horse stables whenever they can.

After school Murray spent his morning lighting fires to burn the wheat straw.    It’s called controlled fire burning.

Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does to need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.  2 Timothy 2:15 (NIV)
